Description:

This is a set of widget styles for Qt4/KDE4, KDE3 and Gtk2 based apps.

0.49 is the first version to have a Qt4/KDE4 port. This version may be compiled with just Qt4 - in which case the KDE4 control panel config dialog will not be built. See the INSTALL file for more details.

The fonts and colours for the GTK themes will be read in from your Qt settings - so any KDE font/colour changes will also affect your GTK apps.

**NOTE:** The Gtk3 release has been removed, as the Gtk theme API has changed!

NOTE: kde-look.org had a server crash, and the original QtCurve entry was deleted.

Changelog:

KDE4
====

1.8.14
------
1. Fix loading of kwin decoration/config under KDE4.9

KDE3
====

1.8.5
-----
1. Allow scrollbar sliders to be as thin as 5 pixels. At this setting, sliders will be squared.

Gtk2
====

1.8.16
------
1. fix memleak with newer versions of cairo.

Nope, sorry. I don't use *any* gtk3 apps, and no longer actively use QtCurve - having switched to Oxygen.

However, this may change if/when I get the motivation. The code has been re-aranged to make a Gtk3 port easier - so if someone wants to start a port...

 QDockWidget custom title bar

Hello,

Just to inform that the QDockWidget custom title bar bug that forbid to undock a dock widget is still present in the Ubuntu/Kubuntu package. I had to self build QtCurve myself and overwrite the official package files :/

Please update the ubuntu package.

 Used slider groove & toolbar colors

Hi !
Thanks alot for providing the community with such a highly configurable widget engine. I've been using it for quite a long time now.
But I've been noticing something that's really starting to annoy me : used slider groove gradient setting won't stick no matter what I do. Is there something I should check/unchek somewhere (seriously knowing what's doing what is a pain) or is it a bug? Anyway it should be fixed.

On the other side I think I've seen the following feature request back in the comments but can't seem to find it now. It's about toolbar background color and toolbar text color settings. Is it something qtCurve can/will do? Or is it something one can achieve only editing css (if so could you point me to some resources on how to achieve this)? I miss this soooo much, and it prevented me from releasing my best styles since they give me the feel they still lack polish.

Sorry if I feel like ranting (themeing is an important part of the kde and linux experience to me, and since I can't code a standalone theme and can't find a match for me among existing ones I'm counting on the over-configurability of qtcurve to settle my aesthetic cravings lol). Anyway thanks again for this GREAT tool i love to mess with and for the answers you'll give.
Keep up the good work.
Peace.

At the moment, I'm only doing basic maintenance on QtCurve. I no longer use the style, having switched to Oxygen. But please feel free to submit patches.

 Etched and shadowed text ?

 by naolloan on: Oct 15 2011

I forgot, but what about them ?
I'd love to see this as an option for titlebars, toolbars, tabs...
Is this something we can expect of qtCurve in a not so distant future ?
Thanks in advance ;)

Thank you for continuing to maintain QtCurve and for the shadow fix. It's great having the menu shadows back.

On a side note... You've mentioned a couple of times that you've switched over to the Oxygen style & I'm just curious why you made the change.

Because I think it looks amazing, love the buttons, gradients, etc. Its not perfect (I don't like the menu checkboxes, button contents don't move when pressed, etc.) ...and also, I don't have to fix the bugs :-)

I have QtCurve config'd in a mac-ish style & give the same answer when asked why.

So... Would it be a bad time to mention a window titlebar issue I've noticed with the latest update? =P

It seems to be related only to GTK windows...

Gimp-2.6: Titlebar not visible on the toolbox window.
Google Chrome: Titlebar not visible on the "save file" dialog.
Inkscape: Titlebar not visible on the main window.

I have no idea how the shadow stuff is implemented, but it almost looks like an overlay is masking off the titlebar, where it looks like the titlebar opacity is 0% with the inactive window shadow drawn around it. The Qt stuff is working fine.

OpenSUSE 11.4 (x86_64)
NVIDIA 275.21
KDE 4.7.2
GTK 2.22

Let me know if you need more info.

D'oh!!!! Caused by a *stupid* mistake! In shadowhelper.c, at line 136 change from:

if(GTK_APP_OPEN_OFFICE!=qtSettings.app)

to

if(GTK_APP_OPEN_OFFICE==qtSettings.app)

Does this fix the issue for you??? I'll upload a fixed version later. Sorry :-(

When you say "sometimes", which times? I've just noticed that the compact menu, and 'File' menu dont seem to get shadows. Anywhere else? I've no idea why this is happening...

This is why KDE 4.7 should implement fallback shadows for styles that dont want to implement their own. And is another reason why it took me so long to getting round to doing this. Each style implementing the *same* thing, and having to fix the *same* bugs, is just silly...

...ok, looked further. is it always the *first* item to appear that does not have shadows?

The fix, I think, is to edit shadowhelper.c and remove line 220 (the call to "qtcShadowReset();")
